Compass Avionics — On time, on spec, every flight.

Denis Ranque - Founder and PRM

For Denis Ranque, aviation is more than a profession; it is a lifelong pursuit of excellence. Denis’s journey began remarkably early when he assembled his first aircraft at just 14 years old. This natural mechanical brilliance set the tone for his career, leading him to graduate with high honors and praise for excellence from Mohawk College.

With over a decade of hands-on industry experience, Denis holds an exceptionally comprehensive set of qualifications. He is a Transport Canada licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME M1 & AME E), an FAA-certified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic, and a licensed Commercial Pilot (CPL). Because he is both a master technician and an experienced pilot, Denis understands aircraft systems from the inside out, recognizing exactly how crucial reliable avionics are when you are in the air.

After moving to Yellowknife three years ago, Denis quickly identified a significant logistical gap in avionics support across the Northwest Territories. Driven by his track record of tackling and excelling at complex challenges, he founded Compass Avionics. His goal is simple: to bridge that gap by providing operators in the NWT with the highest standard of technical expertise, ensuring every aircraft is safe, compliant, and ready for the demands of the North.
